South Dakota Voter Registration From – Register to Vote in SD

A South Dakota voter registration form can be submitted by South Dakotans to register to vote, for the cancelation of previous voter registration, to change their party affiliation, or to update the Secretary of State with any change of personal information. Voter registration is only available to US citizens that are, or will be, eighteen (18) years of age or older on election day. South Dakota law also states that no person may register to vote if they are currently serving a conviction for a felony or if they are deemed mentally unfit by a court of law. The form must be completed and submitted no less than fifteen (15) days before the election.

Where to Send Voter Registration Form – The form must be mail or hand-delivered to one of the following locations:

  • County Auditor
  • DMV
  • City finance office
  • TANF or WIC public assistance agencies
  • Department of Human Services location that offers aid to the disabled
  • Military enrollment office

Voter ID (§ 12-18-6.1) – Voters must bring one (1) of the State Approved IDs.
