A Real Estate Board of New York residential lease agreement is a standard lease agreement between an owner and tenant for the lease of an apartment not subject to rent-stabilization laws. The document will outline what is expected by the state of New York from both the tenant and the landlord with regard to all responsibilities related to the rental and care of the property. The landlord will commonly verify the financials of the tenant before signing by having them complete a rental application. After approval, a lease should be written and signed.
