Updated August 11, 2023

A Missouri voter registration form can be used by a resident and send it to their county clerk to enable that individual to vote in an upcoming election. The registrant must be a U.S. citizen, a Missouri resident, and at least eighteen (18) years old on election day in order to be eligible to vote. Furthermore, residents who are incarcerated, on parole/probation, or have been convicted of a felony related to voting or elections, cannot register to vote. On election day, residents must bring an accepted form of ID in order to vote at their local polling station.

Voter ID (§115-427) – When voting at their polling station, Missouri residents must present either an accepted photo ID or an alternative ID/proof of address and a signed statement. If an individual is registered to vote but doesn’t have adequate identification, they may still cast a provisional ballot and return with a valid photo ID in order to certify their vote. Accepted ID types are as follows:

  • Missouri driver license
  • State-issued photo ID
  • Military photo ID card

These alternative forms of ID are accepted as long as the voter signs an affidavit at their polling place:

  • Missouri-issued ID
  • U.S. government ID
  • Student ID
  • Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or a government document that has the voter’s name and address).
