Any boat that comes under new ownership must be registered with Alaska within 15 days. Registration is valid for three years and expires at the end of the same month of initial registration. All renewals must be conducted in person.

If registration is lost, a boat owner can obtain a new version (if there are no changes) using the DMV’s online services.

A boat can be registered at any local DMV office.

The following forms must be submitted:

• Bill of Sale;
• Boat Application (Form B1);
• Registration fees; and
• Affidavit of Ownership (Form 848).
