A Missouri power of attorney revocation is a document used to terminate a power of attorney appointment. In addition to filling out and signing this form, the principal must give notice of the revocation to the original agent and to any financial or medical institutions and other entities that may be relying on the original power of attorney arrangement.

Financial Powers

A financial power of attorney is canceled if:[1]

  • The principal dies;
  • The principal informs the agent orally or in writing;
  • The principal files a written notice of the termination with the office of the recorder of deeds; or
  • The power of attorney has an end date.

Medical Powers

An advance directive can be revoked by the principal at any time by:[2]

  • Communicating the intent to revoke in writing or verbally to the attorney-in-fact or health care provider; or
  • Executing a new power of attorney to replace the previous one.
