A Mississippi motor vehicle bill of sale is a document that proves the legal sale of a motor vehicle and the change of its ownership. The form provides information about the seller, the buyer, and the vehicle that is for sale. The bill of sale is often needed for vehicle registration. It does require notarization.

Registering a Vehicle
Owners of new vehicles must register them within seven business days of the date they bought them.[1] Registration must be renewed annually. Some counties offer online renewal services.[2]
Odometer Disclosure Statement (Form 78-015): Attach this form if the vehicle is under 16,000 pounds or less than ten years old.

Residents can register in person at a local county tax collector’s office.
Required Documents
- Bill of Sale;
- Odometer Disclosure Statement;
- Certificate of Title (use this application for a replacement if needed);
- Valid driver’s license;
- Mississippi Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney (required if a person other than the owner registers on their behalf);
- Registration Fees; and
- Proof of Insurance with Minimum Requirements:[3]
- $25,000 per accident per person;
- $25,000 per accident for property damage; and
- $50,000 per accident for bodily injury.
