The Georgia General Bill of Sale is a legal document that would show evidence that a sale of personal property has occurred between two parties. Generally, this form is used between two individual parties for the sale of any type of personal property ie: bicycles, puppies, furniture or any of an array of personal items that could be sold. This form will describe the property that is being sold or traded and will state a price or describe a trade. This offers added protection to the buyer as well as the seller to avoid fraudulent sales. This document does require notarization and therefore, no signatures should sign this form until all parties are present before a notary public and have been identified by state picture identification.

How To Write

Step 1 – Seller and Buyer Information – Enter the following required information on the lines provided on the form:

  • The Seller –
  • Name
  • Driver’s License Number
  • Physical Address
  • City
  • State
  • AND
  • The Buyer –
  • Name
  • Driver’s License Number
  • Physical Address
  • City
  • State

Step 2 – Property Details – Describe the details of the property being sold in the line provided. If more room for description is required, continue on an added sheet and attach it to the form. Enter the following:

  • Description of the property
  • Serial Number (SN) (If applicable)

Step 3 – Trade/Purchase Price – Check any applicable boxes. If required, provide any additional information in the lines provided on the form:

  • If the first box is checked, the seller is accepting only monetary payment – Enter the dollar amount in words
  • Enter the dollar amount in numbers
  • Enter the date as to when the parties have agreed that payment will be made in mm/dd/yyyy format
  • Enter the date in which the document will be known as in mm/dd/yyyy format
  • If the parties are in agreement that payment will be made at a later date, enter that date mm/dd/yyyy format
  • Other – If there are other, agreed to negotiation between the parties, enter a brief description of the terms (if extra room is needed add a sheet and attach it to the form)
  • Check the box if no money will be exchanged and the item(s) are being presented as a gift to the buyer
  • The last box in this section will provide information with regard to a direct trade between the parties. Enter a brief description of the  terms and conditions of the trade

Step 4 – Seller’s Disclosure – The seller must carefully read all of the statements in this section. If there are defects in the property being sold, they must be recorded in the form on the line provided.

  • Read the statements
  • Enter any known defects in the property
  • Authenticate by entering the seller’s signature before a notary public

Step 5 – Signatures – This section will require the services of a notary public. Once all of the required parties are aware of all of the conditions and defects (if any) and the notary has identified any signing party with picture identification, enter:

  • Enter the date of the signing of the document in dd/mm/yyyy format
  • The Seller- 
  • Signature
  • Printed Name
  • AND
  • The Buyer –
  • Signature
  • Printed Name
  • AND
  • The Witness –
  • Signature
  • Printed Name

Step 6 – Notarization – Once all of the appropriate actions have been taken by the notary and the notary public has witnessed the signatures applied, the notary will complete the remainder of the form and affix their state seal

  • Make copies of the document to provide to each person who has signed the form for record keeping
  • Give the original document to the buyer(s)
