Florida Independent Contractor Agreement

Updated February 21, 2022

A Florida independent contractor agreement can be drafted by a business or individual prior to hiring a contractor to outline their expectations and operating terms. The agreement allows the client to specify the nature of the available position and the compensation to be afforded upon completion of the work or expiration of the contract, though other payment conditions can be established if agreed to by both parties. Also mentioned in the agreement are provisions that spell out the contractor’s “independent” status. Unlike employees, workers classified as independent contractors operate under their own control and are not entitled to workers’ compensation or other employee benefits.
