Georgia Independent Contractor Agreement

Updated February 21, 2022

A Georgia independent contractor agreement is a legal document that a company or individual may use during the hiring process to indicate their operating terms to an independent contractor. By executing an agreement at the start of a working relationship, the hiring party confirms the worker’s knowledge of their responsibilities, wage, and the date the requested duties must be completed. The agreement also serves as proof of the fact that the contractor is not an employee and, therefore, operates independently and without the control of another business. Clients that misclassify workers as independent contractors may be liable to pay increased taxes on the individual’s income (see § 3509(b)).
