A sales associate, also known as a retail salesperson, is an employee of a retailer, usually in a storefront. This role serves as the most direct and immediate public face of the retail company. The employee will represent their organization by providing a high level of customer service to customers. They assist customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Achieve sales goals;
- Answer customer questions;
- Assist customers with refunds and returns;
- Cross-sell products;
- Generate leads and close sales;
- Greet customers to the store;
- Help customers find specific products;
- Maintain extensive knowledge of company policies and procedures;
- Maintain extensive knowledge of company products and/or services;
- Maintain the presentation of the sales floor, signage, and displays;
- Operate cash registers and/or point of sale systems and process customer transactions;
- Provide advice about products (if qualified);
- Provide excellent customer service; and
- Resolve customer complaints.
Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods;
- Basic math skills;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Experience with point of sale systems a plus;
- Familiarity with inventory processes;
- Friendly;
- Focus on customer satisfaction;
- High school diploma advisable;
- Positive attitude;
- Retail sales experience a plus; and
- Understanding of customer service and sales practices.
