An Illinois subcontractor agreement sets forth the terms and conditions of a business relationship between a subcontractor and the party that hired them. A contractor or manager of a project (construction, information technology, engineering, etc.) will require workers with different skill sets to complete each task involved in any given project. Hiring a subcontractor and having them sign an agreement ensures that the hired party completes their portion of the project in a timely manner and to the best of their abilities. If both parties agree to all provisions included in the agreement, the document can be signed and will become legally binding.
“Subcontractor” Definition
“”Subcontractor” (1) means any person, other than the prime contractor, who offers to furnish or furnishes any goods or services of any kind under a prime contract or a subcontract entered into in connection with such prime contract; and (2) includes any person who offers to furnish or furnishes goods or services to the prime contractor or a higher tier subcontractor.”
