Ohio Subcontractor Agreement

Updated April 26, 2023

An Ohio subcontractor agreement is a document that can be used by contractors and subcontractors to engage the services of a subcontractor to work on a project. The subcontractor will usually be hired to complete a portion of the main project that is in accordance with their expertise (plumbing, electrical wiring, painting drywalling, etc.). The agreement stipulates the work that the subcontractor must complete, the date that the work must be completed by, how much they will be paid, and when the payments will occur. Depending on the agreement, the subcontractor may be permitted to hire additional subcontractors to help them complete their assignment. As opposed to the general contractor, who will have a contract with the client, the subcontractor only has a contract with their contractor or subcontractor. Therefore, the general contractor is directly responsible for ensuring that all their subcontractors fulfill their obligations and are fully paid.
