A Pennsylvania subcontractor agreement is a legally binding document between a contractor and a subcontractor that outlines the terms by which the latter must operate. The subcontractor is usually hired to complete a part of the project that they specialize in, such as masonry, plumbing, and roofing. Having a detailed contract is beneficial to both parties because it gives legal assurances that the other party will fulfill their obligations. In the event of a dispute or failure to deliver payment, the agreement may be used as proof when pursuing litigation. The contractor must be given authorization to hire subcontractors and subcontractors must also receive similar authorization to hire other subcontractors.
