Texas Subcontractor Agreement

Updated April 26, 2023

A Texas subcontractor agreement is a document that outlines an arrangement between a contractor and a subcontractor. The contents of the agreement document define the method in which the subcontractor will be paid, their various responsibilities, whether they’ll be permitted to in turn subcontract a portion of their work to another individual/company, and their various rights and responsibilities while working under the contractor. The primary difference between a subcontractor and a contractor lies in the relationship to the client and the client’s project; a contractor deals with the clients directly and is in charge of overseeing the entire project for which they’ve been hired, whereas a subcontractor works only with the contractor and is responsible only for the portion of the job they’ve been contracted to oversee.

“Subcontractor” Definition
