Crime Incident Report Form

Updated January 08, 2024

A crime incident report is a form used to document the details of a criminal incident, pursuant to government code. The report should include details about the victim, the nature of the crime, and the time and location at which the incident occurred. Crime incident reports should not be confused with police reports, which are kept and maintained by officers of the law. By contrast, crime incident reports are filled out by the individuals affected by the crime and serve to corroborate or strengthen a police report by outlining the victim’s experience. Crime incident reports should be filed either online or in person with the police department that has jurisdiction over the area in which the incident occurred.
