A DHL commercial invoice is a document prepared by an exporter that classifies the contents or merchandise of a shipment in order that customs can properly receive and clear the shipment. The document shows that the taxes and duties have been appropriately assessed before the continuation of the shipment. As well the document would also serve as a bill or a bill of sale from the importer inasmuch as it provides evidence of the transaction between the importer and exporter.

How to Write

Step 1 –  Begin by downloading the document –

  • Submit Company’s name and contact name
  • Enter the complete address
  • Telephone number
  • AND
  • Consignee’s Complete company name and recipient’s name and department
  • Consignee’s complete address
  • Telephone and Fax number
  • AND
  • Date of completion of the document
  • Invoice number
  • Term of trade
  • Total pieces
  • Total Gross Weight
  • Total net weight
  • Carrier – Air Waybill number

Step 2 – Submit the Contents Information as follows:

  • Full Description of Goods
  • Customs Commodity Code
  • Country of Manufacture
  • Total Shipping costs
  • Total Value and Currency Used
  • Quantity
  • Unit Value
  • Subtotal Value and Currency

Step 3 – Signature –

  • The supervisor must read the statement and the bottom of the page
  • If in agreement provide the supervisor’s signature
