A school position letter of intent to return is used by individuals who work in non-teacher elementary and secondary school positions (such as principal, special needs assistant, athletic coach, and librarian) to inform their school district if they intend on continuing their current job in the next school year. In many cases, the school district will issue a notice demanding a letter of intent to return with an attached due date.
The individual must submit their letter by said date or else they will be deemed to have declined their post and not continue working in the next school year. If the individual intends to continue working within their current school district but wishes to be transferred to another position, they must include this transfer request in their letter. Should the individual make a transfer request, they should provide a list of relevant work experience and education that supports their request.
