A Texas Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney (Form VTR-271), also known as a “Power of Attorney To Transfer Motor Vehicle,” is the paperwork a vehicle owner can use to grant authority to another person to perform certain administrative tasks for their vehicle. For instance, such an agent may transfer titles to a motor vehicle in Texas using the principal vehicle owner’s name. This is a type of limited power of attorney that pertains to transferring title of motor vehicles only.

1 – Open The Texas DMV Paperwork On This Page To Designate A Vehicle Agent

3 – Produce Some Details Regarding The Vehicle

The table on this page requires the Vehicles specs. Several boxes have been supplied in this table. Use the boxes in the first row to furnish the Vehicle’s “Year,” “Make,” “Body Style,” “Model,” and “License Plate Number” (in that order). The second row of this table will require the “Vehicle Identification Number” (VIN) then its “Title/Document Number”The final description of the Vehicle will be its Odometer Reading. Locate the words “I Further Certify…” then round out the Odometer Reading on the Vehicle to the nearest whole number then record it on the blank space labeled “No Tenths.” If this number exceeds the “Mechanical Limits” of the vehicle then, mark the checkbox statement labeled with the number “1.” If the Odometer Reading is not the true mileage of this car then checkmark the second statement.

4 – The Vehicle Owner Signature Is A Requirement For Submission

The Vehicle Owner’s attention will be required to finalize this template. His or her Legal Name must be supplied on the line with the instructions “Type Or Print Legal Name Of Owner. First Middle Last (Suffix, If Any)”The Vehicle Owner requires the Owner’s Signature on the “Signature Of Owner” line. The next line shall contain several labeled spaces. The Vehicle Owner must use these spaces to record his or her Mailing Address. The Date when the Signature of the Principal has been supplied must be reported by the Principal on the last blank line
