A Washington D.C. land contract allows the sale of vacant land between two parties. The contract is a legal document that includes information such as the lot number, subdivision, and reference information recorded with the Office of the Surveyor, as well as the names and signatures of the parties giving and receiving title to the land.

Where to Record? – After the closing, the deed must be recorded by the Recorder of Deeds.^[1] This can be done in person at the DC Office of the Recorder of Deeds (1101 4th Street, SW, Suite 500, Washington DC 20024) or electronically. The recording fee is $31.50.
