A Feeding America donation receipt is used as proof of a contribution for tax purposes when giving to Feeding America, which currently operates 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries in the United States as a 501(c)(3) organization. Once a donation is processed, Feeding America sends a confirmation letter and a receipt 4 to 6 weeks after receiving the donation.

Donation Methods

Feeding America makes it very easy for donors to make a contribution by allowing donations to be given online, by phone or by mailing in a donation form.

Make a Donation Online – Make a donation online via credit card or by using PayPal. Giving $1 dollar equates to 10 meals.

Send Donation via Mail – Send a check or money order payable to Feeding America P.O. Box 96749 Washington, D.C. 20090-6749.

Product Donation – If wanting to donate canned food or produce that can benefit people in need, contact your local food bank.

Donate by Telephone – Call 1-800-910-5524, operators are available 24/7 to handle donations and any questions. By calling, they also can help donations via wire transfer.

1 – The Feeding America Receipt Template Is Available On This Page

2 – Fill In The Receipt Heading with Some Preliminary Information

The top of this page will begin with a basic requirement in identifying a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Locate the formatted blank lines labeled “Tax ID Number” then input the Entity Identification Number the I.R.S. assigned this Organization or (if different) the chapter house that represents it.    This receipt will take the form of a basic business letter and thus, will need to be opened correctly. Consult your records, then input the full name of the Donor on the line attached to the word “Dear.        

 

3 – Discuss The Feeding America Donation

The body of this receipt letter will need you to produce an account of what the Donor has given to Feeding America. To begin this process, enter the dollar value of the donation on the line labeled “Declared Value.”    Below the donation value you reported, enter the exact calendar date when the donation was physically received just after the words “Donation Date.”    Notice the quick checklist below the bold words “Check One” Go through this list then mark each check box that can be used to describe the donation. If the donation was not a cash donation then you must use the blank lines to describe it. For instance, in the example below, the donation consisted of cash and a bicycle.     

 

4 – A Feeding America Representative Must Verify This Receipt

The Feeding America Representative filling out this receipt letter must sign his or her name on the line underneath the closing “Sincerely.”
