What to Include
Like any other release, this one should explain the scope of the permission that is being given. Generally, a Pet Photo Release grants the photographer an enduring license to take photographs of the named pet, and the right to use or distribute these photographs at will.
The release should include:
- The name of the pet
- The name of the owner
- A signature from the owner
The release takes effect once signed and dated. Remember that this is a voluntary form, and that permission can be revoked at any time.
How to Use a Pet Photo Release Form (4 steps)
1. Locate the owner
Say you’re at a dog park and wish to take photos for a calendar or other dog-oriented publication. It can be a challenge to associate dog with owner – but you must locate the owner first to gain permission. Do not cut corners and start taking photos without the completed release form.
