A rent forgiveness lease amendment states the tenant does not have to pay rent for a specific time period. This is common when a tenant experiences a sudden loss of income and cannot pay rent. A landlord will allow the tenant to use the forgiveness period to find employment with the hope they will pay rent again when it’s over.
Release of Liability
Once signed, the tenant(s) shall no longer be responsible for rent during the specified dates.
