The North Dakota Rental Application is a document that is used in screening prospective tenants. This document will cover a range of information needed to either accept or deny an applicant according to the information provided. Some of the required information may include the applicant’s employment, monthly or annual income, credit history, rental history, and will even request references from previous landlords. Applicants should be prepared to provide Social Security Numbers and driver’s license numbers. They should also be prepared to reveal past evictions, bankruptcies, and criminal record information, among other possibilities. The tenant must complete the form and return it to the landlord.

Application Fee (No Statute) – There is no limit for application fees. They can also be non-refundable.

Security Deposit (§ 47-16-07.1) – Landlords are legally permitted to demand up to one (1) month’s rent as a security deposit. If the applicant has pets, the landlord can charge up to two (2) months’ rent or two-thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), whichever is less.
