Registering a Boat

All motorized and gas-powered boats must be registered with the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD). All newly issued watercraft registrations are valid for 12 months.

Upon the second year, registrations will last for anywhere between 7-18 months in order to fit into the “staggered registration system,” wherein the expiration date is determined by the last two digits of the “AZ” number. Renewals may be processed online through the AZGFD’s Registration Renewal System, via mail, or in person at a nearby AZGFD office.

Where to Register

All documentation must be taken in person to a local Arizona Game and Fish Agency location.
