An assignee should use the US Copyright Search to verify if the software has been registered. After finding, the copyright, use the Supplemental Handout (Form Circ01) to transfer.
Transferring a Patent
An assignee should use the US Patent Search to find a software patent. Once found, the parties can use the Electronic Patent Assignment System (EPAS) to change its ownership.
