The Delaware General Bill of Sale is a document that is prepared by a seller to provide to a buyer or trader of personal property. This document would be allowable as proof of a legal sale or trade between individuals and in some cases entity and individual. This document will require notarization. Therefore, no signatures should be entered until the services of a notary have been retained for witness and authentication.

How To Write

Step 1 – Seller and Buyer Information – Enter the following:

  • The Seller – 
  • Name
  • Driver’s License Number
  • Physical Address
  • City
  • State
  • AND
  • The Buyer –
  • Name
  • Driver’s License Number
  • Physical Address
  • City
  • State

Step 2 – Property Details – Provide brief details of the property being sold, purchased or traded:

  • Description (of the property)
  • Serial Number (SN) (If applicable)

Step 3 – Trade/Purchase Price – Check the boxes that apply to this transaction and offer additional information if required:

  • If the first box is checked, the seller will be accepting monetary payment – Enter the dollar amount in words
  • Enter the dollar amount in numbers
  • Specify the date when the parties have agreed that payment will be made mm/dd/yyyy format
  • Enter the date in which the document will be known as in mm/dd/yyyy format
  • If the parties have agreed that payment will be made at a later date, enter that date mm/dd/yyyy format
  • Other – If different negotiations have been agreed upon by the parties, enter a brief description of the negotiations (if extra room is needed add a sheet and attach it to the form
  • Check the box if no money will be exchanged if the item(s) are being provided as a gift to the “buyer”
  • The last box in this section will address a direct trade. Enter a brief description of the conditions of the trade

Step 4 – Seller’s Disclosure – The seller must read the statements in this section located on the form.

  • If there are known defects, they must be disclosed here, by the seller – enter a brief description
  • If in agreement with the statements, in the presence of a notary, the seller must provide a signature

Step 5 – Signatures – The seller, buyer, and witness, must sign in this section, only in the presence of a notary public – All parties shall enter the following:

  • In the first lines, enter the date that these signatures are being provided in dd/mm/yyyy format – continue
  • The Seller –
  • Signature
  • Printed Name
  • AND
  • The Buyer –
  • Signature
  • Printed Name
  • AND
  • The Witness –
  • Signature
  • Printed Name

Step 6 – Once the notary public has identified the signers and has witnessed the signatures, the notary will complete the remainder of the form and affix their state seal

Make copies of the document to provide to all signatures on the document. Give the original to the buyer
