The Louisiana General Bill of Sale is a document that is generally used by two private parties to show proof that a legal sale and purchase has been executed between the parties. The document will provide descriptions of the item(s) and any other information needed to show that the sale or trade is/was authentic. Notarization will be required.
How to Write
Step 1 – Seller and Buyer Information – Each party must enter their information as follows:
- The Seller –
- Name
- Driver’s License Number
- Physical Address
- City
- State
- AND
- The Buyer –
- Name
- Driver’s License Number
- Physical Address
- City
- State
Step 2 – Property Details – Provide the details of the property being sold and purchased :
- Details
- Serial Number (SN) (if any)
Step 3 – Trade/Purchase Price – Check the boxes that apply and add any requested information:
- If the first box is checked, the seller is accepting monetary payment – Enter the dollar amount in words
- Enter the dollar amount in numbers
- Specify the date as to when the parties have agreed that payment will be made in mm/dd/yyyy format
- Enter the specific date in which the document will be known in mm/dd/yyyy format
- If both parties have agreed that payment will be made at a later date, then enter that date in mm/dd/yyyy format
- Other – If different options have been agreed upon by the parties, enter a brief description of any agreement (if extra room is required, add a sheet)
- Check the box if the item(s) are intended as a gift to the buyer
- In the last box in this section provide an indication if this will be a direct trade. Enter a description of the trade agreement
Step 4 – Seller’s Disclosure – The seller must read the statements in this section and provide information regarding any known defects in the property being sold
- The seller should only go forward with their signature if all parties are present before a notary
Step 5 – Signatures – If all signatories are present before a notary public then all signing parties must provide the following:
- The Seller –
- Signature
- Printed Name
- AND
- The Buyer –
- Signature
- Printed Name
- AND
- The Witness –
- Signature
- Printed Name
Step 6 – Notarization – As the notary public witnesses all signatures, he/she shall then complete the remainder of the form, affixing their state seal to authenticate
- Make copies of the completed document to provide to all who signed, for their records
- Give the original copy to the buyer
