An Alabama security deposit demand letter is sent by a tenant whose security deposit (which was paid at the beginning of the lease) has not been returned within sixty (60) days of the termination of a lease. Under Alabama law, if the landlord does not pay back the tenant within this time frame, the tenant is entitled to double the amount that was originally owed to them. After the lease has concluded, the tenant is responsible for providing the landlord with their forwarding address. If the tenant does not provide it within ninety (90) days, the deposit is considered forfeited.
