Louisiana Independent Contractor Agreement

Updated February 21, 2022

A Louisiana independent contractor agreement sets forth the terms and conditions of temporary employment between an independent contractor and the hiring entity. A signed contractor agreement does not initiate an employee-employer relationship between the parties but outlines what type of services the contractor is providing, for how long these services will be provided, and what type of compensation the entity will provide to the contractor. Aside from these terms, both parties may wish to negotiate further provisions to ensure a mutually beneficial contract. The hiring party might add non-disclosure and/or non-compete clauses to safeguard their business model and confidential information, and the contractor is likely to demand full right and authorization to hire/delegate other individuals, entities, or subcontractors under their employ.
