A project accountant handles the accounting and financial record keeping for one or more projects. Typically a project accountant handles a project’s billing, invoicing, and expenses. Often, this person is also responsible for performing cost analyses, designing financial forecasts, and investigating variances.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain project-related records, including contracts;
- Reviewing and approving supplier invoices, time sheets, and overhead charges;
- Ensuring payments are collected;
- Investigating project variances;
- Reporting on project profitability; and
- Compiling information for auditors, as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field;
- Knowledge of contracts and change orders;
- Excellent communication skills; and
- Experience in project accounting.
