Colorado Subcontractor Agreement

Updated April 26, 2023

A Colorado subcontractor agreement outlines the legal arrangement between two (2) parties; a subcontractor and a contractor. The subcontractor is sought after by a contractor to complete a specific portion of a project (building works, civil engineering, information technology, etc.) in exchange for payment. The terms of the agreement will include provisions such as responsibilities, compensation, project timeline, insurance, warranty, and the penalties for a breach of contract. A subcontractor agreement alleviates any concerns the contractor may have in regard to the subcontractor’s abilities; i.e., by signing the contract the subcontractor is legally accountable for any problems arising from the tasks that they are hired to complete. On the other hand, a written agreement benefits the subcontractor in that they are able to look over all the terms of the arrangement before commencing work to ensure that they are not undertaking a project with an unreasonable timeline or price.
