Colorado Independent Contractor Agreement

Updated February 14, 2022

A Colorado independent contractor agreement determines the working arrangement between a client and an independent contractor. The agreement describes the services the contractor agrees to perform as well as the compensation afforded by the client. In most cases, the contractor will be paid upon completion of the designated services, though an alternate payment frequency is permitted should both parties agree to the condition. Implementing a contract agreement helps prove the legitimacy of the contractor’s “independent status.” If a client is unable to demonstrate that the individual is not an “employee,” the client may be required to supply insurance benefits and other forms of compensation provided to standard employees.
