An Alaska buyer agency agreement allows a buyer of real estate to seek representation through hiring an agent in exchange for a commission at the time of sale. The buyer will commonly elect to hire the agent for a period of 4 to 12 months depending on the preference of the buyer. During such time, if the buyer agrees in writing with any seller and purchases real estate, the buyer will owe their agent a commission at the closing. In most cases, the property being purchased is listed by another agent. Therefore, the two (2) agents would split the commission as stated in the listing agent’s contract with the seller.
