A Missouri Lease Termination Letter Form | 30-Day Notice may be used by both a landlord or a tenant when either wishes to end a tenancy at will. This notice is required according to V.A.M.S 441.060 before a landlord may usher the tenant out or before a lessee may request their intentions to move away from the premises.
After completing the form may be given to the other party through one of the State required affidavits of service by personally presenting the form, registered mail (return receipt), or by leaving with a person of age at the residence/location.
Minimum Notice Period: One (1) Month.
How to Write
Step 1 – First identify yourself as the Tenant or the Landlord. If you are a Landlord, place a checkmark in the first paragraph. If you are a Tenant place a check mark in the second paragraph.
Step 2 – In the paragraph you have placed a check mark in, enter the Day, Month, and Year of the lease being terminated (this will be found on the lease) in the first, second, and third blank spaces respectively. Then in the fourth, fifth, and sixth blank space enter the desired date of termination. Note: This must be thirty days after it has been received.
Step 3 – If you are the Tenant, locate the area below the line beginning with “After I move out” below this line enter the Street Address, City, State, and Zip Code where the Landlord may send the security deposit. If you are a Landlord using this form skip this part and proceed to step 4.
Step 4 – Sign and print your name at the bottom of this form.
