Main Purpose
A shipping policy sets the expectations for customers and helps to resolve disputes that may arise.
Is a Shipping Policy Required?
Company shipping policies are not legally required. However, these policies help prevent consumer disputes and confusion.
Should I Offer Free Shipping?
A 2025 report found that 93% of shoppers seek to qualify for free shipping, often purchasing additional items to reach the threshold needed for it. Additionally, 80% of Americans expect free shipping for orders above a certain amount. Overall, about 66% of shoppers anticipate free shipping as a standard offering.
Therefore, it is highly recommended to offer free shipping if it is economically feasible for a business.
