Laws

When a Missouri tenancy is terminated, the landlord has 30 days to either return the security deposit in full or give the tenant a written list of deductions along with the remaining money owed. The interest accrued while the deposit was held in a bank or other financial institution must also be included with the refunded security deposit. If the landlord neglects to comply with these requirements, the tenant can recover an amount that doubles the initial balance of the deposit.[1]
