Nevada Security Deposit Demand Letter

Updated December 02, 2022

A Nevada security deposit demand letter is sent by a tenant to a landlord who has neglected to refund a security deposit. Nevada law states that the landlord must return the security deposit within thirty (30) days after the tenancy is terminated. If the deposit is not returned in thirty (30) days, the tenant can seek legal proceedings to recover the initial balance plus any additional amount not exceeding the total deposit. The additional amount will be determined by the conduct of the landlord and how the tenant was treated throughout the process. If the tenant has any unpaid rent or has caused considerable damage to the rental unit, the landlord may deduct any portion of the deposit to remedy the issues.
