Laws
Landlords are required to return security deposits and/or a list of damages and charges within 14 days after the tenant has vacated the premises. However, if the rental property was used for seasonal occupancy or as a secondary residence, the landlord will have 60 days to refund the deposit. In the event that the landlord willfully withholds the money owed, the tenant will be entitled to double the original amount plus applicable attorney fees and other legal costs.[1]
