A web / graphic design retainer agreement enables clients to secure the professional services of a web or graphic designer by paying them in advance. The retainer fee typically consists of a portion or the entirety of the total estimated service charge. If the developer’s duties require more time to complete than expected, the client will be billed for the additional costs not covered by the initial deposit. However, if the developer completes the work before depleting the retainer fee, the unused funds should be returned to the client unless the terms of the agreement specifically state that the fee is non-refundable.
