Indiana Subcontractor Agreement

Updated April 26, 2023

An Indiana subcontractor agreement is a document signed by two parties, a contractor and a subcontractor, for the purposes of establishing a working relationship. This relationship is based on the understanding that the subcontractor has been hired to complete a specific task (or tasks) for the contractor in exchange for reasonable financial compensation. The agreement not only outlines the job and payment, it includes terms and conditions that help govern the relationship between the two parties, such as all subcontractor responsibilities, dispute settlement, termination, confidentiality, and penalties in the event of a breach of contract. A subcontractor agreement should benefit both parties, for that reason, it is important to read through the contract carefully to ensure neither party is treated unfairly.

“Subcontractor” Definition

“”Subcontractor” shall mean and include any person, firm, limited liability company, or corporation who is a party to a contract with the contractor and who furnishes and performs on-site labor on any public building, work or improvement. It also shall include materialmen who supply contractors or subcontractors as contained in this chapter.”
