The New Mexico notary acknowledgment form should be attached to the legal document once it has been completed and brought to a public notary. The purpose of the notary acknowledgment is to have a public notary review the document and verify the signer’s identity and intention to sign. When obtaining a notary acknowledgment, the signer is not required to sign their document in the presence of the notary. They will, however, have to bring an ID that bears their signature, so that the notary can compare their two signatures.

How to Notarize in New Mexico

Step 1 – Find a public notary in your area; a notary can be found at a bank or credit union such as Wells Fargo or U.S. Bank, a UPS Store, and/or by finding a private notary.

Step 2 – Fill out the document that requires the notary acknowledgment and attach the notary acknowledgment form to it. You will also be required to bring some form of identification, preferably a state-issued photo ID.

Step 3 – Schedule an appointment with a public notary near you.

Step 4 – Bring a valid photo ID and your document (with notary acknowledgment) to the notary public.

Step 5 – The notary reviews your identification and document, confirming that you have signed the document of your own volition.

Step 6 – Upon their approval, the notary fills out the notary acknowledgment form. They must provide their signature and notary stamp or seal in order for the notary acknowledgment to be official.

Verify a Notary in New Mexico

Step 1 – Navigate to the American Association of Notaries (AAN) webpage by clicking here.

Step 2 – Enter the “City” or “Zip Code” of the public notary that you wish to verify. If you enter a zip code, select the distance that you would like to search from the menu. Click Search to search the AAN database for a list of results.

Step 3 – A list of notary publics who fit your search parameters will appear beneath the search field. The list displays the zip code, city, state, name, and phone number of each notary public. If a notary’s name is highlighted, you will be able to view their individual notary information webpage by clicking on their highlighted name.

How to Write (For Notary)

Step 1 – Obtain the New Mexico Notary Acknowledgment form. You can download it here as a PDF, Microsoft Word, or Open Document Text file.

Step 2 – Enter the name of the county that you are associated with, followed by the date. Next, write the name of the person whose document you are notarizing.

Step 3 – Below that, you will need to provide your handwritten signature, your printed name, your title or office, and your commission expiry date.

Step 4 – To complete the notarization process, you must affix your notary seal or stamp on the notary acknowledgment form.
