A COVID-19 (“coronavirus”) lease amendment allows a landlord to defer, forgive, or terminate the lease agreement with the tenant’s consent. Due to the recent pandemic of COVID-19 sweeping the country, landlords have been forced in most jurisdictions to withhold evictions until the first part of May or June (depending on local laws). If the amendment defers or forgives rent, the form may be signed by the landlord only, if the amendment terminates the lease agreement, it must also be signed by the tenant.
