Pennsylvania Security Deposit Demand Letter

Updated February 09, 2023

A Pennsylvania security deposit demand letter is a document that an individual will send to a landlord who has failed to pay back the deposit made at the beginning of the lease. State law requires that the landlord provide an ex-tenant with a written list of damages that are deducted from the original security deposit within thirty (30) days of the lease’s termination. If the landlord fails to provide a list of damages or return the security deposit within this period, the tenant will be entitled to double the original amount, including any unpaid interest. It is the responsibility of the tenant to provide the landlord with their new address; failure to do so will forfeit their rights to claim the security deposit.
