The Utah notary acknowledgment form is a certificate completed by a notary public for the purpose of authenticating an individual’s signature. Having a signature authenticated indicates to government officials that the signature was provided willfully and for whatever reasons(s) are described within the signed document. A notary public serves as an official witness to the signing and ensures that the process is executed in accordance with State law. The notary public must identify the signing individual to make certain that he/she is, in fact, the person mentioned within the document. If the notary public is confident of the individual’s identity, the acknowledgment form will be completed to authenticate the signature.

How to Notarize in Utah

Step 1 – Begin by finding a notary public who operates within your location of residence. In Utah, the services of a notary public can often be employed at the following places:

Step 2 – It is important that you read through the documents being notarized to ensure that no spaces have been left unfilled. It is, however, recommended that the signature fields are left unsigned. Gather your prepared documents and bring them to the notary public for review. At this time, the notary public may demand a service fee of no more than $5 per signature.

Step 3 – In order for the notary public to identify you as the individual mentioned within your documents, you will be required to provide satisfactory evidence of your identity. This is often accomplished with a government-issued photo ID, though other options are available to you (see § 46-1-2(12)).

Step 4 – After your identity has been confirmed, the notary public will be able to authenticate the documents which contain your signature, or if you have yet to sign your documents, you will be asked to provide your signature in front of the notary public. The notary public will then fill in the acknowledgment form, provide their signature, and complete the process by placing their seal on the form.

Verify a Notary in Utah

Step 1 – Searching for a notary public in Utah can be accomplished by conducting a search via the Utah Office of the Lieutenant Governor website.

Step 2 – In the empty fields of the search menu, specify one (1) or more of the following details:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Business city
  • Business zip code
  • Languages

Step 3 – If you know the date range of the notary’s commission, enter it into the remaining two (2) spaces. Click Search when you’re ready to continue.

Step 4 – The results of your search will include the notary’s name, full business address, business phone number, commission date range, and other spoken languages (if any).

How to Write (For Notary)
